暖冬　Warmer winter

シカゴに近いインディアナ州、フォートウェインの友人から“冷凍庫にいるようで猛烈な寒波をしのぐには家にいなければいけない”とのメールをもらいました。
しかし、日本は1月の平均気温はいつもよりも高かかったようで、暖かく、広島の今日の日中の温度は14度の予報です。
おかげで防寒対策した戸外水槽の熱帯植物、ホテイソウも元気です。今年の冬は越冬できるでしょう。
A friend of mine living in Fort Wayne in Indiana State near Chicago mailed me, saying that they are in the freezer right now and we need to stay home to survive the brutal cold.
But in Japan the average temperature in January was higher than usual and it is actually warmer here in Onomichi with today’s daytime high of 14 degrees centigrade.
Thanks to it, the water hyacinth, a tropical / subtropical plant, in the cold-poof water tank outdoors looks OK and can survive this winter, I hope.
