小3英語の教科化　English subject for 3rd graders in Japan

学校での授業は学習の動機付け、習慣付け、ペースメーカーとしては大きな意味があります。しかし、私は英語は基本的には教える、教わるものではなく、自ら習得する、習うもの、と思っています。外国語の学習では習得開始年齢よりも大切なのは学習者（子供、大人）の日常の習慣的な取り組みと家庭（親、大人）がどのような学習環境を作るかです。

Lessons at school should be very meaningful for motivating, habit-forming and pace-making of learning. But I basically think English is not what they teach or what is taught, but it is what we learn by ourselves. When it come to learning foreign languages, the more important thing than what age they start teaching is how the learners (children, adults) learn habitually everyday and what learning environment they (parents, adults) can provide.
