英語翻訳後のネイティブチェック（後編集） Native Check After English Translation (Post-Editing)

知人の出版本（Danjo、写真、アマゾンで購入可能）の英訳ですが、最終的な英語文章の後編集としてネイティブチェックをDr. Loida Medinaさんに行っていただきました。

ネイティブチェックのその目的は、より自然な文章にすることです。具体的には

１．より適切な単語使への変更

２．より適切は文法的な修正

３．自然で読みやすい文章への修正

です。

日本語⇒英語の翻訳では英語は日本人の私の母国語ではありませんので、私が翻訳した文章を自然な良い文章にするために、ネイティブチェックは不可欠で、編集結果（変更や修正）はそのまま受け入れます。

（英語⇒日本語の翻訳は私の母国語が日本語ですから、後編集はある意味では比較的簡単ですが。）

英語版も購読可能な形になる予定ですので、原本（日本語）同様、読んでいただければ幸いです。

ネイティブチェックの結果ですが、191ページ（日本語数；65,404語）の本の中で44ヵ所の訂正でしたから4，5ページに一か所の変更や修正でした、その内訳は、

１．単語の変更：24ヵ所

２．文章の書き換え：10ヶ所

３．不注意ミス（ピリオド、コンマ、大文字、小文字など）：10ヵ所

なお、

ネイティブチェックをしていただいたDr. Loida Medinaからは以下のようなコメントいただきました。これは英訳した私にとっては最大の賛辞にもなり、勇気づけられます。

「修正や追加箇所はごくわずかですので、お分かりいただけると思います。添削用の別紙は使用せず、そのまま原稿に書き加えることができましたので、さほど手間はかかりませんでした。何か質問があればお知らせください。あなたは英語に熟練していますので、私はほとんど手を加える必はありませんでした。良い翻訳です。」

This is a continuation of the January 27th post.

For the English translation of an acquaintance's published book (Danjo, photos, available on Amazon), Dr. Loida Medina performed a native check as post-editing of the final English text.

The purpose of this native check is to make the text more natural. Specifically:

1. Changing to more appropriate word usage

2. Making more appropriate grammatical corrections

3. Revising for natural, readable sentences

Since English is not my native language, native checking is essential to refine my Japanese-to-English translations into natural, high-quality English. I fully accept the editing results (changes and corrections).

(English-to-Japanese translation is relatively easier in some ways since Japanese is my native language.)

The English version will also be available for subscription, so I hope you will read it just as you would the original Japanese text.

Regarding the native check results, there were 44 corrections in the 191-page book (Japanese count: 65,404 words), averaging one change or correction every 4-5 pages. The breakdown is as follows:

1. Word changes: 24 instances

2. Sentence rewrites: 10 instances

3. Careless errors (periods, commas, capitalization, etc.): 10 instances

Additionally, Dr. Loida Medina, who performed the native check, provided the following comment. For me, as a translator, this is the highest praise and a great encouragement.

Dr. Loida Medina’ comment:

I had very few corrections or additions which I hope you can decipher.

Instead of using a separate paper, it was possible for me to write the change right on there without much trouble.
