ファクシミリが再び、既存技術の大切さ：
悪名高いランサムウェアで全社的なシステム障害を被っているアサヒ飲料やアスクル。前者では商品の受注をファクシミリで代行している、とのことです。一時代前の風景を思い出します。
作業の効率化を最優先にしたデジタルフォーメイション（DX）、インターネット、メールなどの普及で旧式の通信手段があたかも無価値のように姿を消していますが、ファクシミリはサイバーセキュリティ、リスク管理の観点から、メールよりも安全性が高いとしてFAXも使用する内外の企業は多いようです。
ファクシミリは一時期、電子メールの普及で全滅するとさえ言われていましたが、これは現場を知らない評論家のストーリーだった訳で、実際はそうではありません。このような例はたくさんあります。
効率だけを考えた技術やサービスには落とし穴があり、悪用されることも多々あります。
効率化、デジタル技術だけでは対処できない人間の感性と知覚力、アナログ技術やサービスの保存と利用、その利点の再発見と活用もデジタル化時代のこれからの生き方の一つです。
私自身はファックスの待機電力消費を80%以上カットする私自身が開発した節電（虫）技術の保存と普及、及びデジタル技術との共存にこれからも注力します。
The facsimile returns, highlighting the value of existing technology:
Asahi Beverage and Askul, both suffering company-wide system failures due to notorious ransomware attacks. The former is reportedly using fax machines to handle product orders as a workaround. It brings to mind scenes from a bygone era.
While digital transformation (DX), the internet, and email—prioritizing operational efficiency—have made older communication methods seem obsolete, many domestic and international companies still use fax. From cybersecurity and risk management perspectives, fax is often considered safer than email.
At one point, fax was even predicted to be completely wiped out by email. This was the narrative of commentators unfamiliar with the field, and it didn't come to pass. There are many such examples.
Technologies and services focused solely on efficiency often have pitfalls and are frequently exploited.
Preserving and utilizing human sensitivity & perceptual ability, analog technologies & services—those that cannot be addressed by efficiency or digital technology alone—along with rediscovering and leveraging their advantages, is also one way to navigate life in this digital age.
Personally, I will continue to focus on preserving and promoting energy-saving (bug) technology of my own invention that cuts fax standby power consumption by over 80%, and on its coexistence with digital technology.
