We want a strong Japan (a strong yen).
I hear and see many overseas travelers, whose numbers have recovered, unanimously saying “(Prices in) Japan is cheap.”
This is seen by the weak yen falling in foreign exchange.
And the one who promoted this yen weakness was former Prime Minister Abe, who, under the banner of Abenomics, prioritized the profits of export-oriented large corporations above all else, paying little attention to the lives of the people. His shadowy dealings are becoming even clearer through the ongoing trial related to the shooting incident where he was shot to death.
The Takaichi administration, inheriting his policies and thinking, is pursuing a direction of a strong (?) economy through a menu of handout policy. Since the administration took office, the yen has continued to weaken as was expected. It was predictable that Japan as a whole would become increasingly vulnerable, inflation would accelerate, and citizens would suffer.
Rather than superficial, popularity-seeking handouts, policies to strengthen Japan as a whole and a menu to strengthen the yen have hardly been presented. Are they incapable? The current situation is critical.
The funds for these handouts come either from borrowing via government bonds or from tax revenues. This is not a sound approach considering future generations.
