沖縄でのペーボ博士の研究 Dr. Pääbo's Research in Okinawa

沖縄でのペーボ博士の研究／新聞報道：

2022年度のノーベル生理学・医学賞を受賞したペーボ博士が今年6月に三次市吉舎町の日彰館高校で講演された時に、通訳を勤めさせていただきました。

その時、彼と彼の研究がチーム沖縄でも石垣島から出土した人骨からDNA解析研究を行っていることをお聞きしました。そして、なぜ、沖縄、石垣島かという理由もお聞きしました。

その研究の成果の一部かもしれませんが、沖縄科学技術大学院大学のペーボ博士の研究が朝日新聞に掲載されていましたので添付します。

Dr. Pääbo's Research in Okinawa on the Asahi:

I had the honor of serving as an interpreter when Dr. Pääbo, winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, gave a lecture at Nichōkan High School in Kisha-chō, Miyoshi City this past June.

At that time, I learned that he and his research team were also conducting DNA analysis research on human bones excavated from Ishigaki Island as part of Team Okinawa. He also explained why Okinawa and Ishigaki Island were chosen.

As part of the research outcomes, an article about Dr. Pääbo's work at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University was published in the Asahi Shimbun, which I have attached.
