敬老の日 Respect for the Aged Day

先日、9月15日は敬老の日でした。

私自身については、“敬”はともかく、“老”であることは間違いありません。

4年前の2021年からは、あるシニアの月例集会に出席し、主催者側スタッフへの支援として閉会時にギターで出席者に馴染みのある1、2曲をボランティアで弾いています。

敬老年齢なってもできる範囲で、何らかの役に立てることができるのは幸せなことです。

The other day, September 15th was Respect for the Aged Day in Japan.

I may not be someone worthy of “respect,” but I am certainly “elderly.”

Since 2021, I've been participating in a monthly gathering for seniors that started four years ago. As a way to support the staff, I volunteer to play one or two familiar songs on the guitar for the participants at the end of each session.

Even at this age, being able to contribute in any small way within my capabilities is truly a blessing.
