メダカの越冬 Overwintering Japanese rice-fish

In the past several winters, we have taken a good care of the mother leaf (good luck leaf, miracle leaf), a subtropical plant from the Ogasawara Islands, and the Japanese rice-fish are added from this year on.
It is said that they can survive our winter that sometimes has minus degrees. But I don’t like the cold weather and neither do they, I think. The measures against cold should be needed especially for the newly born fish.
The outside of the aquariums are wrapped with the insulating transparent films with air layer between them and the inside a black burning film.
