染色の色相や濃度はカラスの濡れ羽色の黒が理想と言われています。逆に言えば良い黒色の出ない染法や染料は技術、製品としては未熟ということかもしれません。染料は化学的に10種類ほどありますし、染料と繊維によって種々の染色方法があります。

The ideal color shade and depth is said to be the black of the crows’ wet feathers. The dyeing methods or dyes that can not produce a good black color shade and depth may be half-formed. We have now about 10 kinds of dyes chemically and the various dyeing methods depending on the dyes and the fibers.
