2025 Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony:
I watched the live broadcast of the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing until a few minutes ago.
I saw and heard six people (including 2 elementary school students) give five speeches.
Each person who saw and heard the speeches directly or indirectly probably must have perceived them differently.
As for me, the most impressive speech in terms of content and attitude was that of Hiroshima Governor Yuzaki. The opposite was the one of Prime Minister Ishiba. He never once turned his face to the participants, but kept looking down, only reading his speech from his script.
I wonder how my two uncles (one killed in WWII and the other, an atomic bomb victim in Hiroshima) would have taken it had they been alive.
