シジュウカラの巣作り・産卵、抱卵2024 (3)：

前回、リール動画（1分24秒）でご紹介した後、14日（土曜日）に小さな卵を巣の中に確認しました（写真）。抱卵中の親鳥は時々巣箱の外に出てきますが、すぐ、抱卵のために巣に戻ります。

前回、今年の巣作りの様子の一回目として3月22日時点での様子を写真で紹介しました。

その後の様子は添付ビデオ（1分24秒）の通りですが、この間に大量の藻を、最近は羽毛を口にくわえて何回も取り込んで、厚いふかふかベッドが出来ています。

産卵も近いでしょう。

“英文法は会話力を得るための絶対の基礎です。”は「ラジオ英会話」大西講師の4月1日の開講時の最初の言葉です。（添付音声参照）

私も、英語を母国語としない外国人はしっかりした英文法力なしでは信用され、納得いただける良い会話はできない、と信じています。

毎回、この番組終了前に講師から出される数題の口語英作文は瞬時に答える必要があり、頭の体操、目覚め、そして実用に最適です。

いつも通り、今年も講座のテキストは購入使用せず、15分間の講座では目は使わず耳だけで集中し、英文スキット全体を完成し、口を使って楽しみます。スキットを書いたり作ったりすることは、自分の弱点をチェックするのに役立ちます。これが長年の私のやり方です。

"English grammar is the absolute foundation for conversational fluency." are the first words of "Radio English Conversation" instructor Onishi at the beginning of the first program on April 1. (Listen to the attached audio.)

I also believe that non-native English speakers cannot have a good conversation without solid English grammar skills to be trusted and understood.

Every time before the end of the program, the instructor gives us a few spoken English compositions that we have to answer instantly, which can be a great mental exercise, a wake-up call, and a practical tool.

As always, I do not purchase the textbook for the course this year, but concentrate only on the sounds of the lectures by our ears and mouth, not by eyes using hands to write down the whole skits in English within the 15 minute-programs. Writing down or make the skit is useful for checking my weak points. This is my way for many years.

フルートとギターの小グループF2G（エフーツージー、フルート by R. 板原、ギター by 和田、釜本）として演奏を重ねていましたが、フルート担当の女性がオカリナ演奏も上手ということで、この曲は楽器をオカリナに持ち替えて、2013年のひまわり音楽祭で披露しました。

ちなみに、私が住んでいる尾道市の隣町、福山市はバラの町として有名です。

We had been performing as a small group of a flutist and 2 guitarists named F2G Flute by R. Itahara and Guitars by Wada and Kamamoto).

Since the lady in charge of playing the flute was also a good ocarina player, she switched her instrument to ocarina for this song and performed it at the 2013 Himawari Music Festival.

Just for your information, Fukuyama City, a town next to Onomichi City, where I live, is famous for its roses.

小学校の友人一人が番組の中で当時の様子を語っており、私も懐かしく思い出しました。

私は1962年4月から廃線までの2年4か月の間、福山の高校に通学するために山陽線の列車への接続交通手段として三美園駅から尾道駅まで毎日利用していました。

この友人が地元の記録冊子に当時の思い出を掲載するので私にも利用者の一人として寄稿してほしいと依頼があり、当時の駅舎、電車、乗降状態、乗客の様子などを800字程度にまとめました。

One of my friends from elementary school talked about those days in the program, and I remembered it fondly.

I used the line every day from Sanbien Station to Onomichi Station as a connecting transportation to the Sanyo Line trains to go to high school in Fukuyama for 2 years and 4 months from April 1962 until the line was closed.

This friend asked me to contribute my memories of those days as one of the users to a local record booklet, and I made a 800-word summary of how station buildings, trains, boarding and alighting, and passengers were at that time.

メジャーリーガーの大谷選手の前通訳、水原氏の問題を見て、海外で日本人が生活し、仕事をする時に現地で生活経験の長い日本人を語学力だけで過度に信用してはいけない、ということを再認識しました。

私も海外ビジネスに関わった会社が東南アジアの現地で生活経験の長い語学力に優れた日本人を責任ある立場に登用して、彼らの数億円の投資が結果的に失敗に終わったことを見ています。

語学力、その流ちょうさとビジネス能力、そして人間性は無関係です。しかし、海外で不安な時にはこのことを忘れがちです。

The issue with Mizuhara, a former interpreter for a Major League Baseball player Otani, reminded me that when Japanese people live and work abroad, they should not overly trust Japanese people who have lived and worked there for a long time based solely on their language skills.

I have also seen that a company involved in overseas business in Southeast Asia employed a Japanese with excellent language skills who had long experience living locally to a position of responsibility, and their hundreds of millions of yen investments ultimately ended in failure.

Language skills and its fluency have nothing to do with business ability or human qualities. However, it is easy to forget this when one is anxious abroad.

The attached photo shows the names of the award-winning companies and the article introducing the "Setsuden-mushi" that I developed, which were in the booklet distributed at the Energy Conservation Vanguard 21 award ceremony sponsored by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Energy Conservation Center on January 29, 1997.

昨年2023年度の記録では巣作りが3月、産卵とヒナ誕生が4月上旬、巣立ちは一ヶ月後の5月初旬でした。

今年も巣作りが始まっており、親鳥が巣の中に入る時間が長くなっており、3月22日時点での巣作りの状態は写真の通りです。

災害が頻発する日本では停電、断水など、万一に備えた準備が必要です。

停電時に代替供給電力源として発電機を使うか、蓄電池を使うかですが、我が家ではこの度、先ず、太陽光発電＆蓄電可能な小型のポータブル電源（定格電量2KW）を購入しました。

この電源でほとんどの電気製品が使用できるようですが、実際にどんな電気製品がどのくらいの時間使用可能かをテストして確認します。

我が家には通常の受電回路とは別に発電機からの受電回路をすでに設置していますが、発電機はまだ購入していません。

4，5年前の豪雨災害の時は尾道でも断水が続きましたが、我が家ではこの時、水は実家の井戸水で、風呂水は黒色のビニールシートを使って太陽光で温めてしのぎました。

I created my You Tube account (https://www.youtube.com/user/KarlKamamoto) 14 years ago in 2010.

And it was 11 years ago in 2013 that I uploaded this music for the first time as my solo guitar performance, which has now been viewed over 36,000 times. Adding the 27,000 views of the same for karaoke, that number in total reaches 63,000.

In terms of a day, this means that this music video is viewed around 16 times a day by someone somewhere.

For amateurs, I do not think that the number of viewings on YouTube exceeds 10,000 in few cases so that I really appreciate the viewers for it.

As for non-music related content of mine, the interview I got on NHK (https://youtu.be/lhZDeFzE_4M) has been viewed about 8,300 times now.

This is because it is difficult to express the subtle length, spacing, and loudness of notes that are not expressed in the score.

This is the second flute & guitar concerto piece we have uploaded.

We performed this as a three-member F2G group with one flute for melody and two guitars as accompaniment for second and third, at the Onomichi "Himawari (Sunflower) Music Festival" about 10 years ago.

３月下旬ころから巣作りを始め、成長したヒナは5月中旬ごろに巣立っていきます。

今年も昨年に引き続き、2月から庭の巣のチェックに頻繁に来ています。

今年もヒナの誕生と巣立ちが楽しみです。

They start building their nests around late March and their grown chicks leave the nests around mid-May.

This year, as last year, they have been frequently coming to check on their nests in the garden since February.

We are looking forward to the birth of chicks and their departure from the nest this year as well.

今年（令和6年）に入り、広島県内で高齢者が関係する交通死亡事故が多発しています。（交通事故死者数16人/うち高齢者9人：2/26現在）

広島県での交通事故死者数は1970年頃の519名をピークに、1990年初めから過去30年間、下がる傾向でしたが、昨年（令和5年、2023、78名）は一昨年（令和4年、2022、74名）より少し（4名）増加しました。そして、その多くは横断歩道を横断している時に起こりました。

家から見下ろせる横断歩道が最近きれいに白く塗り替えられました。車からもはっきり認識でき交通安全に役立つでしょう。

写真のグラフは広島県の交通事故の推移を表しています。

Since the beginning of this year of 2024, there have been a number of traffic fatalities involving elderly people in Hiroshima Prefecture. (Number of fatalities in traffic accidents: 16, including 9 elderly: as of February 26, 2024)

The number of traffic fatalities in Hiroshima Prefecture peaked at 519 around 1970, and has been on a downward trend for the past 30 years since the early 1990s, but it increased last year in 2023 from the before last year in 2022 by 4 (from 74 to 78). Most of 78 traffic fatalities occurred while crossing at pedestrian crossings.

The pedestrian crossing overlooked from our house has recently been beautifully repainted white. It will be clearly recognizable from cars and will be useful for traffic safety.

The graph in the photo shows the transition of traffic accidents in Hiroshima Prefecture.

いずれも英検面接試験官登録の被支援を希望して私に連絡がありました。

添付写真の通り、これまで無料支援によって、全国で140名以上の方々が面接試験委員に登録されています。

実用英語の普及に幅広い分野での有資格人材が面接試験員（試験官）に登用されるよう2024学年度以降もこのボランティア支援を続けています。　

ネット経由ですが、毎月、同じ興味を持つ人々との新しいご縁をいただき、色々な情報交換ができることは大変嬉しいことです。

4. Mr. Y(male) in Gifu; a junior high school social study teacher, EIKEN Level 1 qualified, a municipal international exchange association member

They contacted me in the hope of receiving assistance in being registering as Eiken interview examiners.

To date, more than 140 people have been registered as Eiken interview examiners throughout Japan through our free support as shown in the attached picture.

We will continue to provide this volunteer support in the 2024 academic year and beyond to ensure that qualified individuals in a wide range of fields are appointed as interview examiners (examiners) to promote the use of practical English.

Although it is via the Internet, I am very happy to make new contacts with people who share the same interests every month and exchange a variety of information with them.

添付写真は2003年9月1日の中国経済産業局広報誌 METI CHUGOKU 9月号に掲載された小記事です。中国地域のオンリーワン・ナンバーワン企業として、開発した商品「節電虫」を紹介いただきました。

The attached photo is a small article that appeared in the September 2003 issue of METI CHUGOKU, the public relations magazine of the Chugoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry. The article introduced our product, "Setsuden-mushi (Electricity Saving device)," which we had developed as the only one and number one company in the Chugoku region.

当時はインターネットの黎明期で、石井給食の石井社長が特別通信回線でインターネットプロバイダーのアーバンネットを尾道に引いて2年目ぐらいでした。

私のホームページ開設も尾道では早い時期で、ホームページの開設目的は技術開発を終えた節電虫（待機電力ゼロ化装置及び技術）のPRでした。

インターネットの世界の1年は通常の7年に相当するそうですから、考え方によっては、私の行動は通常の時間感覚ではあたかも210年前の出来事だったのです。

Around that time, the Internet was in its infancy, and it was about the second year after Mr. Ishii, president of Ishii Food Service, brought Urban Internet, an Internet provider, to Onomichi via a special telephone line.

The purpose of my homepage was to promote the "energy-saving device" (a device that reduces standby power to zero) and its technology for which I had completed technological development.

They say that one year in the Internet world is equivalent to seven years in the normal world, so depending on our perspective, my action was as if they had happened 210 years ago in the normal sense of time.

日本の失われた30年はまだ続いています。

今年はGDPでドイツに抜かれ世界4位に落ちます。

多くの事象でそれらがピークに達した後は通常は下降線をたどります。

その下降線の勾配が緩ければ緩いほどいいのですが、日本は日本一と言われた直後からここ30年間は坂道を転げ落ち続けています。

その原因は

①  人口減少と高齢化、②不良債権問題、③長期デフレーション、④産業構造の変化、⑤政府、政治家の先見性の無さと無知、怠慢、⑥財界人と私たち日本人の多くが、成功物語に酔って、努力する姿勢を失った。

反攻に転じることができても、最低限、失われた30年と同じ時間が必要でしょう。

Causes of 30 Years long Japanese Stagnation:

Japan's lost 30 years are still continuing.

This year, Japan will be overtaken by Germany in GDP and fall to 4th place in the world.

After many events reach their peaks, they usually follow a downward path.

The slower the slope of the descent, the better, but Japan has been rolling downhill for the last 30 years since right after it was said to be the best country in the world.

The causes are,

(1) Population decline and aging, (2) bad debt problem, (3) long-term deflation, and (4) changes in industrial structure, (5) lack of foresight, ignorance, and negligence on the part of the government and politicians, (6) many of us Japanese, led by those in the business world, have become intoxicated with success stories and lost the attitude of making efforts.

Even if we can turn to a counteroffensive, it will take at least the same amount of time as the lost 30 years.

疑問に思うキャッチフレーズも多くみられます。

私の経験では英語学習には時間は必要ですが必ずしも多くのお金は必要ありません。

お金を使うとすれば、毎日のテキスト代金として月額数千円以内で十分でしょう。

すなわち、

①  毎日、自学学習し、②自学自習したことを使い、③楽しく使う機会を増やすことで、誰でも語学は上達します。

Attractive English learning catchphrases:

The attached photos show some of the attractive (?) PR screens that appear on our smartphones inviting us to learn English for a fee.

Many of the taglines are questionable.

In my experience, learning English takes time but not necessarily a lot of money.

If you have to spend money, a few thousand yen per month or less for textbooks you use every day should be enough.

In other words, anyone can improve their language skills by 1. continuing learning every day, 2. using what you have learned on your own, and 3. increasing the opportunities to actually use and enjoy the language.

For your information, my lifetime study method so far is described above.

私の生活パターンは退職年齢以降変化しておらす、分野別では以下の5つ、健康・趣味・情報受発信・仕事・ボランティアでの活動です。

昨年2023年も健康でこれらのことを出来たことに感謝しつつ、このスタイルは今年2024年も変わらないでしょう。

内容的には昨年から音楽と英語が主体ですが、英語では英語を書くことに今年も多くの時間を使うでしょう。

My life pattern is divided into the activities of the following five areas: health, hobbies, receiving and sending information, work, and volunteering, which have not been changed since my retirement age.

I am grateful that I was able to do these things last year of 2023 in good health, and this style will not change this year 2024.

In terms of content, I am to spend much of my time mainly on music and English, especially English writing.

29日（金）に帰省した孫（3歳、男）との時間は実質的に昨日まででした。

天候にも恵まれて多くの思い出ができました。

4日からはこれまでの日常に戻りますが、孫ロスになる？

Our time with our grandson (3 years old, a boy), who returned to us on Friday the 29th, was practically over until yesterday the 3rd.

The weather had been good and we have had many memories to share.

From today, the 4th, we will return to our usual quiet routine and we might miss him.

シェーバー、クリスマスプレゼント？：

2015年から8年間も毎日使用してきたシェーバー（日立製 RM-F7E3）のモーターが先週、故障しました。

ピンチヒッターとして使用したシェーバー（フィリップス製、回転刃、携帯式）は肌に合わず、かぶれました。

急遽、新しいシェーバー（パナソニック製、ES-LVG8-K）を自分へのクリスマスプレゼント（？）として購入しました。

Shaver as a Christmas present?

The motor of my shaver (Hitachi RM-F7E3), which I have used daily for 8 years since 2015, failed last week.

The shaver I used as a pinch hitter (Philips, rotary blade, portable) did not fit my skin and gave me a rash.

So, I urgently had to purchase a new shaver (Panasonic, ES-LVG8-K), which may have been  a Christmas present to myself.

一昨日、12月23日の朝日新聞の土曜日版にその紹介記事が掲載されていました。

野菜などにかけるだけで一品できあがる、という手軽なドレッシングです。

昨日、アメリカ・インディアナ州の友人と（アメリカ現地時間で午後11時頃から）長話をしていました。

ちょうどその時、彼の息子が部屋に入ってきて、テレビで日本からのニュースを放送している、と話してくれました。

彼によれば、黒い服を着た多くの人がビルに入って行っている、とのことでした。

私は直感的に、検察が安部派事務所と二階派事務所に強制捜査に入っているニュースと確信し、確かめた後で、そのニュースの背景とこれまでの事情を話しました。

私の友人は安部元首相の苗字のつづりがA,b,eで、リンカーン大統領（Abraham Lincoln）の愛称（ニックネーム）のエイブ（Abe）と一致するために、安部元首相をこれまで過大評価？していました。

そこで、私は今回の裏金スキャンダルの張本人が安部元首相であることを伝え、彼の誤解を解いてあげることができました。

それにしても、悪事が伝わるのは速く、遠いですね。

Yesterday, I was having a long conversation with a friend from Indiana, USA (starting around 11 pm local time in USA).

Just then his son came into the room and told me that they were broadcasting news from Japan on TV.

He told me that many people dressed in black were entering the building.

Intuitively, I was convinced that the news was about the prosecutors conducting raids on Abe's faction and Nikai's faction offices, and after confirming it, I told them the background of the news and what had happened so far.

My friend had been overestimating former Prime Minister Abe because his last name is spelled A,b,e, which coincidently matches the nickname Abe of President Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln).

So, I was able to clear up his misunderstanding by telling him that former Prime Minister Abe was the key figure behind the current slush fund scandal.

But still, the bad news travels fast and far, doesn't it?

簡易ストーブの火入れ：

ここ数日、気温が下がっていますので、日曜大工・物置・簡易化学実験室の手作りストーブに初めて火を入れました。

自然の炎の感覚（視覚、暖かさ）はいいものです。

Firing up the simple stove:

Since the temperature has been dropping for the past few days, I lit the handmade stove in the Sunday carpentry, storage, and simple chemistry lab for the first time.

The sensation (visual and warmth) of a natural flame is so nice.

文書生成のChatGPT以外にも、今年8月に画像生成AIを初めてテスト使用してみましたが、4か月後の12月14日にも使って、その進歩具合を確認しました。

僅か4か月で大きな進歩の跡が見られます。

Besides ChatGPI for document generation, I first test-used the Image Generation AI in August of this year, and four months later, on December 14, I used it again to check its progress.

We can see significant progress in just 4 months.

新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）第1例目の感染者が中国の武漢市で報告されたのが 2019年12月初旬で, わずか数カ月ほどの間にパンデミックと言われる世界的な流行となりました。

2023/03/13時点で新型コロナウイルスの累計感染者は世界で6億7657万人、死者は688万人に達しています。（日本経済新聞）

但し、世界保健機構は死者数をこの数字の約３倍と推計しています。

この深刻な感染症の発生元の中国は習近平体制の元で、最初からこれを他人事のように、あたかも他国が発生源であるかのように、ずっと無責任に振舞っています。

現在放送中のNHK朝ドラ「ブギウギ」での今週の出来事です。

世界大戦の悲惨さはほとんどの朝ドラで放送されますが、その度に、私は27歳で妻子を残して戦死した伯父を思い出し、その彼の無念さに思いをして、非常に多くの人を戦死に追いやった当時の日本人戦争責任者、A級戦犯者たちの不十分な責任の取り方に怒りの気持ちが湧きます。

This is what happened this week in the NHK morning drama "Boogie Woogie" that is currently airing.

The tragedy of the World War is broadcast in most of the morning dramas, and every time I watch it, I remember my uncle who died in the war at the age of 27, leaving behind his wife and child, and I think of his regret and feel anger at the inadequate taking of responsibility by the Japanese war chiefs and Class A war criminals of the time who sent so many people to their deaths in the war.

銃撃事件で死亡した安部元首相と統一教会の長く深い関係が側近からも明らかにされ、証明された後も、次々と明るみに出る、政治家の身勝手な振る舞いは救いようがありません。

その一端が政治家の裏金作りに関する添付記事ですが、その額面金額やその関係者人数を信用する人はいないでしょう。

政治家が尊敬される対象にならないのは日本だけでありませんが、日本の現状は実に情けないですね。

今回の裏金作りを始め、法律に抵触するようなあまりにも多い不祥事、身勝手なふるまいがそうさせています。

Even after the long and deep relationship between former Prime Minister Abe, who died in the shooting incident, and the Unification Church has been revealed and proven by his aides, the self-serving behaviors of many politicians after another comes to light and are irredeemable.

One of them the attached article on making slush funds by politicians, but no one would trust the face value or the number of related people.

Japan is not the only country where politicians are not respected, but the current situation in my own country of Japan is truly shameful.

This is because of too many scandals and selfish behavior that violate the law, including the current slush fund making.

昨日、中四国地域支社での仕事で東京からの出張途中に立ち寄り帰省した息子と男二人のリンゴ狩りに出かけました。

場所は庄原市の東城町で、所要時間は車で1時間40分です。

普段は親子での時間は多くはありませんので往復の道中は貴重な時間にもなりました。

取ったリンゴは帰宅後すぐに宅急便で息子夫婦と娘夫婦の家族に送りました。

Yesterday I went apple picking with my son who had made a short stop at our house by on his way from Tokyo on a business trip for work at the Chugoku and Kyushu Regional Offices.

The location was in Tojo Town, Shobara City, and it took 1 hour and 40 minutes by car.

We usually can’t share a lot of time to spend together, so the drive there and back home was a precious time for us.

The apples we picked were sent to our son' family and our daughter's family by home delivery service as soon as we got home.
